Bathroom Mirror Ideas

As I started the write this blog on bathroom glass, I was completely blown away about how much glass its possible to have in a bathroom? How do you keep it clean?

I think you will be amazed too, so you head into the bathroom through a glass bathroom door or a bathroom entry door with frosted glass or you could choose a sliding glass bathroom door.

Then you step onto the glass bathroom tile looking directly at floor to ceiling floating glass bathroom shelves totally stunning as you turn to the left it’s a beautiful glass bathroom wall built into the glass wall is a glass bathroom sink surrounded by unique glass bathroom jars & canisters.

We notice on the other wall between the block glass half wall there are frosted glass windows on the top and bathroom windows with privacy glass on the bottom. Between the windows is a glass top vanity complete with glass bathroom accessories set.

The Clear glass shower doors with glass bathroom trays is beautiful. Lets take a look at all the glass options available for your bathroom.

What Custom Shower Glass Options are Available?

Before you start designing or customizing your shower area, let’s look at our options:/

1.  Clear Glass

Clear glass shower doors are transparent. They sometimes have a slightly greenish tint, but this coloration isn’t always noticeable. Since they are texture-less, they can be installed in any decor-style bathroom to give it a timeless appearance. Their simple look is what makes them popular among homeowners. Being see-through, they make small bathrooms appear larger and more open. As light in the bathroom easily passes into the shower area, it makes the space appear brighter.

2.  Opaque and Frosted Glass

Owing to their distinct textures, frosted and opaque glass shower doors are becoming popular. Their smooth and soft appearance provides more privacy than clear glass, and they can be purchased in a variety of colors and designs.

To create the frosted texture, manufacturers etch one side with sandblasting or acid. This prevents light from cleanly passing through. This type of glass is translucent, with one textured side and one etched one.

Additionally, the frosting keeps smudges and fingerprints from being as obvious as they would on a clear surface. However, cleaning this type of shower door can be difficult as soap scum can accumulate.

3.  Rain Glass

Like opaque and frosted glass, rain glass offers privacy and is great at hiding stains and fingerprints. It differs from its counterparts due to its eye-catching and decorative raindrop patterns. Since said patterns obscure visibility within your shower, they’re better suited to larger bathrooms. Rain glass allows some light to pass through while offering privacy for those who share their shower.

Again, like frosted glass, the pattern only appears on one side.

4.  Patterned Glass

Patterned glass shower doors come in a variety of design options and are a great way to update your bathroom without going overboard.

From flowers and plants to abstract designs, you can find something to suit your taste. Just remember to pick a neutral pattern so you aren’t stuck with a design that’s likely to go out of style. Be careful when choosing an etched pattern as it will most likely become the bathroom’s focal point. While they might work in larger bathrooms, patterned glass can make the space feel cramped in smaller ones.

Patterned glass is easy to clean, as it only needs to be wiped down to stay in good condition. Cleaning is important, however, as soap scum can lead to mold and mildew growth and make them look unkempt.

5.  Tinted Glass

In search of something contemporary? Tinted glass is the way to go.

These glass shower doors come in multiple colors, so you know you’ll find one to match your decor.

Like clear glass, tinted glass allows you to see through the material, but the tint reduces the amount of light that passes through. They offer a unique look to your bathroom and you don’t have to worry about the design looking dated in a few years.

Consider them useful if you have a simple shower area you want to keep out of view. Colors vary from light to dark, with darker shades offering better privacy.

6.  Hammered Glass

These doors are popular for their distinct dented appearance which resembles hammered metal. It’s a bold look that creates interesting visual effects when light passes through.

Although they only slightly obscure the glass, hammered glass shower doors don’t provide the same level of privacy as other glass types.

1.  Low-Iron Glass

As the name suggests, low-iron glass is manufactured with less iron content. This helps reduce the greenish tint that most glass doors have and results in a much clearer view. Popularly referred to as HD glass, it’s a great way to highlight your shower walls.

Also, since the glass isn’t tinted, your shower area will receive more light from that emanated by your light fixtures. In the absence of patterns, however, spots will be more visible and streaks more prominent.

Custom shower glass doors can completely transform your bathroom, whether you’re upgrading your existing shower space or designing a new one.

HOW TO KEEP A GLASS BATHROOM CLEAN

Cleaning Glass Mirrors, Shower Doors & Tile Bathrooms

Dirty shower door glass and shower glass walls can make an otherwise clean bathroom look dirty. Unfortunately, cleaning shower glass isn’t as easy as grabbing a soapy sponge or glass cleaner and a cloth. But with a little cleaning know-how and determination, those hard water spots don’t stand a chance!

How to Clean Your Shower’s Glass Doors & Walls

  1. Begin by wetting the shower glass with the shower sprayer or splashing the walls with a bucket.
  2. Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and use it to thoroughly saturate the glass.
  3. Let the vinegar soak in for at least 10 minutes. Let it soak even longer if there’s significant buildup.
  4. Dip a scrub sponge into baking soda and scrub the glass. The baking soda acts as an abrasive, while the vinegar dissolves the hard water spots and soap scum.
  5. Once you’re satisfied and the glass looks clean, rinse it off with fresh water.
  6. Dry the glass with a microfiber cloth, and use glass cleaner to finish cleaning the glass, trim and towel hangers.

Keeping Shower Glass Clean

Hard water spots appear on your glass when water drops dry there. The best way to keep you glass clean is to prevent water from drying on it in the first place. Check out these preventative measures you can take:

  • Keep a squeegee in the shower to wipe down the glass after a shower.
  • After cleaning the glass, apply a hydrophobic compound, such as Windex or Rain X, to keep water spots off the glass.
  • Install a water softener. This is an expensive solution, but it will solve many other problems by reducing mineral buildup on your shower glass and the insides of your pipes, faucets, dishwasher, showerheads and more.

Glass tiles are the most popular materials used in modern households. It is mainly because cleaning it is a hassle-free job. Here are some tips on how to clean it with easily available products.

Glass tiles have gained popularity in the market. Their splendid appearance add elegance and beauty to your home. Whether it is the kitchen or bathroom, a tiled glass backsplash perfectly adds life to any room. Glass tiles are available in various colors, textures, shapes, and styles. You just have to choose a kind that matches your taste. The added benefit is that it requires very little maintenance. Cleaning it is really simple, as it is not porous like ceramic tiles. Its water resistant capacity makes the job less tedious. The only threat posed, is scratches, but it can be easily avoided.

How to Clean Glass Tiles

Tip 1: Make a solution of vinegar and water in equal proportions. Mix it up and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it on the tiles and allow the solution to sit for 5-10 minutes. With the help of a soft bristled brush, clean the tiles, thoroughly. An old toothbrush can also be used to clean grout. Now, rinse it with cold water; the tiles should sparkle like they’re brand new. Dry the surface with a piece of cloth to prevent water streaks.

Tip 2: If the tile is frequently exposed to hard water, mineral residue accumulates on it. Using vinegar with baking soda can help remove mineral buildup. Spray vinegar on the tiles, and then sprinkle some baking soda on it. Foaming will be observed which indicates a chemical reaction. Rinse the tiles with cold water and wipe them down with a soft towel.

Tip 3: Another method is to use normal detergent. Take some warm water in a bucket and add a few drops of detergent to it, mixing it up. Wet a soft cloth in this solution and scrub the tiles with it. Wash it with water, and the tiles should look squeaky clean. It works wonders for kitchen floors.

Tip 4: Cleaning tiled glass showers can be a tedious task at times, so it is better to clean it every day, than for later. Preventing soap buildup in the shower is the most important thing. It is a good idea to wipe glass tiles with a squeegee, after the last shower of the day. It also helps remove excess water and prevents water spots and stains from being left behind.

Tip 5: An easier method would be to clean it with a glass cleaner available in the market. But remember to use non-abrasive or mild cleaners to prevent etching and scratching the glass tile.

The best way to keep your tiles shiny all the time, is to clean them regularly. If dirt remains on the tiles for a long time, it accumulates, making it difficult to clean. So, make it a point to clean them once a day, or at least on alternate days. Just wiping them clean with a wet cloth will also do. You can perform a thorough cleaning session once a week. This will keep your glass tiles spotless.
